The rise of non-communicable diseases, concurrent with infectious disease outbreaks poses a significant challenge to the Sudanese health system. To successfully address this challenge, we need a cadre of qualified, expert, public health professionals. The purpose of this proposal is to strengthen public health education in Sudan through partnerships between leading academic institutions in the World and in Sudan. We will collaboratively develop and teach an innovative new curriculum focused on advanced applied public health methods to address the need for implementing evidence-based interventions to improve health-related practice and policy.

Measurable Outcomes (Goals)
The public health profession is often neglected by low-and-middle-income
countries that rely on foreign expertise for guidance. This is the first comprehensive and
equitable proposal to strengthen the capacity within Sudan for public health – the fundamental
foundation for a strong, resilient and sustainable health system to improve the health of all in
Sudan.
