في ظل ثورة ديسمبر المجيدة، أصبح من المهم طرح مشروعات تساهم في محاربة الفقر والبطالة، وفي نفس الوقت تعمل على تحقيق التنمية الاقتصادية الشاملة، وقد دللت التجارب العالمية في أكثر البلدان تطورا أن المشروعات الصغيرة هي أساس الاقتصاد الوطني، وتوجد في اليابان 3,8 مليون شركة صغيرة تشكل أساس الاقتصاد الياباني، وهنالك تجارب دول عديدة، وبخاصة الدول المكتظة بالسكان مثل الصين والهند تعكس أن مهارات الفرد ووسائل الإنتاج الصغيرة في الريف وأطراف المدن يمكن أن تلعب دورا مهما في تغطية حاجات المجتمع الأساسية وتحويله بالكامل إلى مجتمع منتج، ومن هنا فنحن نحتاج إلى تحريك قاعدة الهرم الاجتماعي في بلادنا وتحويلها إلى قوى فاعلة ومنتجة لتحقيق التنمية الاقتصادية.

مثل هذه المشروعات انقذت اقتصاد جنوب افريقيا وكانت بداية لكثير من الاختراعات الشبابية وبمساعدتهم واعطائهم التدريب اللازم والمعرفة اصبحوا من رواد الاعمال, فهو قطاع مهم وعلينا الاهتمام به
