HIV/AIDS Primary Prevention Program: El-Tadamoun and Dar-Elsalam IDP camps, Haj Yousif, Khartoum State

This is a consultancy about primary prevention of HIV/AIDS at El-Tadamoun and Dar-Elsalam IDP camps, Haj Yousif, Khartoum State. The project was funded by Unicef and implemented by the Sudanese Islamic Association (SIMA). The project targeted 28000 IDPs living in Khartoum squatters and applied massive education campaigns to raise the awareness of people and to link them with HIV/AIDS prevention services at specific points in the catchment area.

The consultancy provided ToT for community health promoters in Interpersonal Communication (IPC), community-based approaches and various strategies in the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS.  Acommunity-based survey of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAPs) was conducted to measure peoples’ perspectives and behaviors towards the disease.

Furthermore, people at risk were guided to the nearest hospital to obtain the reliable health services of control and prevention.
