Biography

Mohamed E. “Mo” Seifeldein was elected on November 6, 2018, to serve a three-year term on City Council from 2019 through 2021. He is the first Sudanese immigrant to serve on City Council.

Mo worked as a court-appointed-attorney and volunteered with local legal aid services to the help indigent clients in the community. He is a litigation attorney and was exposed to the highest level of international human rights law at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia through an externship. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Old Dominion University and a Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law.

Mo is active in the community and serves on the board of Moving Forward Sudan, a nonprofit organization. Mo mentored students before his election and continues to mentor students by exposing them to local government. He is a strong supporter of the arts and Alexandria Soccer, where his nephew plays.
