The Role of Co-operative Societies in Alleviating Poverty & Achieving a Sustainable Socioeconomic Development

Co-operative societies spread the idea of economic democracy which is a socioeconomic philosophy that suggests an expansion of decision-making power from a small minority of rich corporate shareholders to a larger majority of public stakeholders to reduce exploitation of poor and to increase their financial literacy. Co-operative is distinguished by using a co-op domain in organizing society to better achieve its development objectives than using a political domain which is redundant and retarded in some of the situations
