Dr. Montasir obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Offshore Structures) from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia in2012. He specializes in hydrodynamics of offshore platforms and its station-keeping systems. He has spent seven years in the structural engineering industry in both contractor and consultancy companies prior to his engagement with academia. He was the Construction Manager of the Pumping Facilities for Melut Basin Oil Development Project (Pump Station 4- Sudan).

He also served as a Resident Engineer for Civil Work in the Project of Ministry of Higher Education in Sudan. Dr. Montasir is currently a senior lecturer at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Head of the offshore Laboratory (UTP) as well as the MSc Offshore Engineering (UTP) Programme Manager.
