Dr. Mohamed is an Associate Professor in the Department of Urology, at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, USA. She is a Behavioral Scientist with a broad background in health psychology, patient-provider communication, and shared decision making.

 

For the last 10 years, Dr. Mohamed’s work has focused on qualitative and quantitative studies of the survivorship experience for men and women with cancer, particularly related to the quality of life, symptom management, and coping with and adjustment to cancer and treatment outcomes.

 

More recently, Dr. Nihal’s work has included the experience of men and women making treatment decision making about urologic cancer with a special focus on health disparities. Her Behavioral medicine research projects on bladder and prostate cancer have been funded by the American Cancer Society, and National Cancer Institute, the Department of Defense (DOD) and Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN).
